Get Config Values
What
The git config get subcommand allows you to query and display the value of a single, specific configuration key instead of listing all options.
How
Provide the hierarchical key name formatted as <section>.<key> to retrieve its set value:
# Retrieve your configured global user name
git config get user.name
# Retrieve a project-specific custom key
git config get webflyx.ceo
Why
Using list displays your entire configuration, which can be dozens of lines long. In scripts, automated pipelines, or when quickly checking a setting, using the get subcommand is cleaner and returns only the exact, isolated value you need.
Summary
Use git config get <key> to quickly extract the value of a single, specific key from your Git configuration files.
