Advanced tsconfig Options

What

Beyond basic settings, TypeScript offers dozens of advanced options to improve performance, strictness, and developer experience.

How

You can enable features that improve both safety and speed:

  • strict: Enables all strict type-checking rules.
  • skipLibCheck: Speeds up compilation by not checking types inside node_modules.
  • noUncheckedIndexedAccess: Prevents errors when accessing potentially undefined array or object elements.
{
  "compilerOptions": {
    "strict": true,
    "skipLibCheck": true,
    "noUncheckedIndexedAccess": true
  }
}

Why

Setting strict: true is highly recommended for all new projects as it catches the maximum number of potential bugs. Other options like skipLibCheck are essential for maintaining fast build times as your project grows and its dependency list expands.

Summary

Advanced configuration allows you to balance extreme type safety with rapid development speed.
