Computed Constants
Constants must have their values determined at compile time. This means they can be a literal value or a result of a computation that the compiler can figure out before the program runs.
Valid Computations
You can combine other constants to create a new one:
const firstName = "Lane"
const lastName = "Wagner"
const fullName = firstName + " " + lastName
const secondsInMinute = 60
const minutesInHour = 60
const secondsInHour = secondsInMinute * minutesInHour // 3600
Invalid Computations
You cannot declare a constant that depends on a value only known at runtime.
// This will FAIL to compile
// time.Now() is only known when the program is running
const currentTime = time.Now()
